Parks Victoria to trial glamorous camping in Victoria’s Grampians National Park

PARKS Victoria will be trialing luxury camping in the Grampians National Park in Victoria this spring and is therefore inviting ‘glamping’ services providers to apply for the trial.

Glamping is where magnificent nature meets modern luxury. It is a way to experience the untamed & completely unique parts of the world—without having to sacrifice comforts. Glamping generally includes feather beds, comfortable blankets, and many more. When you glamp, you enjoy all the amenities of luxurious hotels set in a natural environment.

Simon Talbot, Chief operating officer for Parks Victoria, said that glamping (also known as glamorous camping) was specifically designed for people looking for a greater level of comfort while camping in nature.

“We know that more and more people are looking for nature-based experiences in Victoria, and this includes different types of accommodation,” he said.

“Encouraging people to visit and stay in national parks is important for creating a deeper appreciation of nature and the need to protect our wonderful places, plants and animals.

“We’re excited to offer this trial opportunity and look forward to hearing from innovative businesses who share Parks Victoria’s commitment to connecting people with parks.”

Parks Victoria is also seeking business applications that incorporate the provision of local produce & deliver benefits to the local community.

Following the trial, Parks Victoria would be assessing the potential future viability as well as appropriateness of glamping in the state’s parks & reserves.

The trial will be for 12 weeks. Expressions of Interest are open through the Parks Victoria site till April 13, with the trial to start in this spring.

Other trials will be in Mount Buffalo as well as Lake Eildon national parks.
